Controlling basic sensors and actuators

Situation: A biologist needs to maintain temperature and humidity in several test chambers growing new plant varieties. He sometimes needs to take video images inside the chambers at particular times and when the plants reach certain height in growth. There may be a hundred different components needed to set up and maintain this environmental control and observation system.

Challenge: Although the sensors are not sophisticated there are many, and they need to be coordinated in feedback loops – for example, temperature to heater, and video capture and analysis. This takes time to set up and maintain, which of course costs money!

Solution: IO Interface (IOI) quickly connects sets of temperature and humidity sensors, to heaters and to the programmable controller. ScriptML™ can be used to create programmable control loops in the IOI for each individual chamber so they operate efficiency without taking network resources but remaining controllable at all times.
